Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished: Why It Matters for Tallow

When it comes to skincare, not all tallow is created equal. At Myers Manor, we take pride in using only grass-fed, grass-finished beef fat in our tallow products—and that distinction makes all the difference.

What does "grass-fed, grass-finished" mean?
"Grass-fed" means the cattle ate grass for most of their lives. "Grass-finished" means they ate grass until the very end. Many products labeled "grass-fed" actually finish their cattle on grain, which can undo many of the nutritional benefits. True grass-fed, grass-finished beef provides superior fat composition, and that directly affects the quality of the tallow.

Nutritional superiority
Studies have shown that grass-finished beef contains significantly higher levels of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) compared to grain-finished beef (Daley et al., 2010). These healthy fats are key to nourishing skin, reducing inflammation, and improving the skin barrier—making grass-finished tallow a powerful skincare ingredient.

Purity and safety
Toxins are lipophilic, meaning they are stored in fat. This makes the quality of the fat source crucial. Conventional cattle raised in feedlots may be exposed to pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics that accumulate in their fat. By contrast, grass-fed, grass-finished cattle are raised in more natural, toxin-free environments. That means our tallow is cleaner, safer, and more nourishing for your skin. Better for your body, better for the earth
Regenerative grazing and pasture-based systems also support healthier soil, water retention, and biodiversity. Choosing grass-finished tallow isn’t just good for your skin—it’s a vote for responsible stewardship of the land.

The Myers Manor difference
We partner with local farmers who uphold the highest standards in ethical and sustainable farming. Our tallow is rendered in small batches, ensuring it retains its natural nutrients and purity. You can feel confident knowing that your skincare is as clean and nourishing as it is environmentally responsible.
